We believe in the health benefits of good work

Numerous studies, along with our own work across medical, rehabilitation and employment fields, tells us that good work is essential for the wellbeing of people, families and communities.

As per the Health Benefits of Good Work consensus statement, to which MedHealth is a proud signatory, ‘good work’ is defined as:

“engaging, fair, respectful and balances job demands, autonomy and job security. Good work accepts the importance of culture and traditional beliefs. It is characterised by safe and healthy work practices and it strikes a balance between the interests of individuals, employers and society. It requires effective change management, clear and realistic performance indicators, matches the work to the individual and uses transparent productivity metrics.”

Our experience shows that good work helps people to:

  • Learn new skills and gain experience
  • Connect and socialise with people and their community
  • Have the financial freedom to manage their life as they choose
  • Make a positive contribution to society
  • Maintain a level of mental and physical health

In our work across all brands, we promote the health benefits that good work can provide. We advocate for continuous improvement in public policy around work and health, and encourage employers to support good, meaningful and healthy work for their employees. We also support people to prepare for, find and sustain meaningful work that is right for their individual circumstance.
